Vinequity Is Recruiting New Board Members!

Vinequity is seeking new board members to help shape the future of an organization dedicated to creating lasting change in the Canadian Beverage Alcohol industry.

We are a working volunteer board — a group of committed professionals who share responsibility for the direction, stewardship, and integrity of Vinequity. As we look ahead to the next chapter, we’re seeking individuals who are aligned with our values and energized by the work of community building, equity, and structural change.

Who We Are

Vinequity is a federally incorporated not-for-profit founded by seven women of colour in the wine industry. Our mission is to ensure that professionals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour (BIPOC), including those who identify as LGBTQ+ or live with a disability, are given equitable opportunities to thrive and lead in all aspects of the Canadian wine world.

We do this through programming rooted in three pillars: visibility, advocacy, and access — including scholarships, mentorship, and immersive education.

What We’re Looking For

We’re inviting expressions of interest from individuals who:

  • Have professional or lived experience in wine, hospitality, or adjacent sectors (including food, beverage, education, nonprofit, or community advocacy)

  • Are committed to equity and anti-oppression work, and value transparency, care, and accountability

  • Are prepared to actively contribute to the work of a volunteer board — including hands-on tasks, shared leadership, and collective decision-making

  • Reflect the communities we serve, with priority consideration given to BIPOC candidates, particularly those based in Canada

Skills that are especially welcome at this time include: nonprofit governance, fundraising, legal and policy advising, digital communications, and education/program design.

What You Can Expect

Vinequity is a hands-on, values-driven board. We support one another with flexibility and empathy, and we create space for dialogue, rest, and learning. We do not view board service as a stepping stone to personal opportunity — but as a way to give back, redistribute access, and shift the culture of our industry.

All new board members receive an orientation and are asked to sign our Code of Ethics & Board Agreement, which reflects our commitment to fairness, community-first leadership, and public trust.

How to Apply

To express interest, please send a short letter (or video/audio message, if preferred) introducing yourself and outlining:

  • Why you’re interested in serving on Vinequity’s board

  • What skills, experiences, or perspectives you would bring

  • Any questions or concerns you’d want to explore before joining

We are accepting applications to info@vinequity.ca until July 15, 2025.

If you’re unsure whether board service is the right fit but want to stay involved, please feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to connect.
