Meet The Mentors
Seema Pal
Greetings! My name is Seema Pal and I started my wine education journey in 2017. My background is in sciences, and I have been self-employed teaching at my tutoring company for 17 years. When I had taken WSET 3, I was bitten by the wine bug. What specifically made me fall in love with the learning of wine is the immense amount of science that is incorporate in the field. Resultingly, that same year I had registered for the WSET Diploma and had completed it with Pass with Merit in 2021, with exams being pushed back due to Covid 19. In the meantime, I had taken the French Wine Scholar, and also became a certified Sommelier from 2017-2020 through the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers. I was also a lucky recipient of the Capstone California Wine Certification in 2020, and the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory course from Vinequity. This journey has not been an easy one, with one of the factors being from the BIPOC community which resulted in me starting it at a later age than my colleagues due to the wine and spirits industry not being acceptable in my culture. There are challenges I had to face (and still do) to become a part of this industry due to being 10-15 years older than many of my fellow graduates.
With persistence, I now am a WSET Instructor, and am on the marketing team for a wine company and could not be happier. I am also Director of Operations for CAPS Manitoba. I would love to take the opportunity to give back to my BIPOC community to offer advice, support, and anything else I can be of assistance with to make it an easier journey. Cheers to your future wine studies and career!
