Martin was born and raised in Eltville Germany. The values instilled in him by his family include a strong work ethic and a genuine appreciation for the natural environment that surrounded him, attributes that continue to define Martin today.

 

In 1996 immediately after graduating from the Rheingau Institute of Winemaking in Germany, Martin moved to Canada to begin his winemaking career with Pelee Island Winery as Assistant Winemaker to Walter Schmoranz. Over the years he worked his way up to Winemaster and oversees the day-to-day winemaking operations and is committed to producing high-quality wines for Pelee Island Winery.
