I have my WSET2 credentials and I am consistently looking for more education and opportunity to learn more about wine. i have a large interest in the financials of wine and the creation process from start to finish.

I have just started out in the wine industry after 7 years in the speciality coffee industry.
I currently have my WSET Level 2 and working in a wine bar full time! WSET Level 3 is next!

Mina Wang Zhou is a Chinese-Canadian interdisciplinary writer, event programmer, editor, and artist who works intimately with wine, ranging from curating wine for individuals' birthdays and social functions to collaborating with sommeliers and bottle shops to create wine lists for art exhibitions, DJ sets, parties, and other arts and culture events. At these events, Mina bartends and educates individuals on the wines they are interested in and drinking. With a BA background as an Art History Specialist and East Asian Studies Minor focusing on feminist and Black queer theories, she brings a holistic ethos which balances an informed account of sociopolitical and geographical history shaping current environments of a site alongside a decolonial, anti-elitism lens which eschews the narrowness of Western traditional canon to mine the spaces which exist in the institutional periphery. Throughout her practices, she focuses on the generative exchange which results from nuanced applications of different art forms and craft techniques toward each other in creative and unexpected approaches. She is currently at work on a forthcoming poetry collection with funding from the Toronto Arts Council and Ontario Arts Council, and runs ERHUA Archive (@erhua.archive), a sound-text-image living archive and workshop series based in Toronto.

I hold a MBA and have completed the WSET2. I would like to advance my wine education. Ultimately, I would like to enter the vineyard management sector.

My journey in wine began after moving to Canada. I found myself captivated by the vibrant character, rich aromas, and unique stories behind Canadian wines. Learning about the people, the land, and the culture behind every bottle inspired me to pursue both wine education and hands-on experience within the industry.

To deepen my knowledge, I have earned the Canadian Wine Scholar designation, Wines of BC Ambassador certifications, and WSET qualifications.

I have built my career across wine retail, hospitality, and wine production in British Columbia. I served as a Team Lead at Sutton Place Wine Merchant in downtown Vancouver, where I advised customers, organized educational tastings, and passionately promoted Canadian wines. In 2025, I completed the harvest at Poplar Grove Winery in the Okanagan Valley, gaining practical experience in grape reception, fermentation, cellar operations, and the winemaking process.

I also founded Eri’s Wine Club, a community that aims to create opportunities for cultural exchange through educational wine tastings and seminars in both Canada and Japan. As Canadian wine is still relatively unknown among Japanese consumers, I am passionate about sharing its diversity, quality, and the stories of the people and places behind every bottle.

I now own a restaurant that focuses on contemporary Pakistani/South Asian food with a mostly natural leaning wine program
